273 - Beginning Studies
Something in the air of Beth Emet The Free Synagogue must have inspired our young people. A goodly number have gone on to rabbinic or Jewish communal or educational studies. Our friend, Jordy, leaves this weekend for the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College to begin the five-year course of studies leading to ordination as rabbi.
Two Hundred Seventy-Three
Beginning Studies
I was called at Sinai, hearing words of fire,
Your voice, my Creator, resounding in the wind;
Now I seek to master each syllable,
Be with me as I parse out meaning.
Each word will stir me to action,
Gathering the living energy of our people;
Help me understand nuances of caring,
Tether me to the beauty of my heritage.
Let me learn and pray and think and do,
Bless my intention and my effort;
Stir me to informed lovingkindness,
Strengthen me to serve You in truth.
