271 - Summer Gratitude

Twelve weeks after his heart attack and surgery, Reid is graduating from cardiac rehab and has been back to work full-time for a month and a half. He’s eating right, exercising, communicating. We are in a good place and I feel very lucky.

Two Hundred Seventy-One

Summer Gratitude

We thank You, our Protector, for these days.
We store up summer warmth,
We feast on the fruits of recovery,
Tasting the tang and sweet of this victory.

We are long moved beyond fright;
We have consolidated change,
Finding new rhythms and habits
To safeguard the integrity of restoration.

We find You in the nuance of gratitude,
You bless our evolution.
On the bounty of the season
We grow strong and whole.
