PSALMS

270 - Potential

People often stumble upon my website, HealingPsalm.com, as they are searching a variety of topics. Over the years, a number of people have contacted me to whisper or to exclaim their religious quests: discovery of Jewish ancestors, the need to find spiritual comfort, a longing newly satisfied by study. But cyperspace is not enough. To all, I urge they seek a community to ground their explorations.

Two Hundred Seventy

Potential

I would be a candle, tapered, tall,
Ready to receive Your match, Holy One.
Now I am only wax and wick, unformed,
Searching for the Artisan’s hand.

You call me to my own manufacture:
Help me find knowledge and skill;
As I learn, my creation is refined,
Practice smoothes the finished product.

In the midst of community, I am held firm;
Potential nourished, they hold the place
For my light-to-be. Let me find that place:
Your people, my people, a new familiarity.
