266 - Cardiac Rehab
Seven weeks after his heart attack and coronary artery bypass graft surgery, my husband, Reid began the formal phase of cardiac rehabilitation. Three times a week, he will exercise at the hospital with monitors and supervision. The cliché says that a heart attack is a “wake up call;” Reid heard the summons and changed his eating habits and started taking daily walks. I am grateful for his determination and for his improving health.
Two Hundred Sixty-Six
Cardiac Rehab
My body survived the physical test,
Other hands mended the brokenness;
Embark with me as I fashion change,
Teaching my body and spirit new demeanor.
You protected me, Holy One,
You were Overseer of my days of danger;
Now I call Your help in my recovery:
Motivate me to persevere.
Strength will return, as will courage,
Let my goal be healthy and willing change;
Guard me again as I pursue completeness,
This time by my will, with Your care.
