248 - Alterations

My neighbor, Sandy, called a couple of weeks ago to see if my husband could recommend a doctor at his hospital for a second opinion. She wanted someone to look at a breast ultrasound; she had been told to “repeat the scan in six months.” She wanted someone to take another look. She called to report that she was still waiting to hear, but felt that her faith gave her the strength to deal with any contingency.

Two Hundred Forty-Eight

Alterations

Source of the possible, You gather us,
Many colored gems that glisten in Your hand,
And spill us upon life’s table,
Our futures displayed in the arrangement.

The table’s tremor scatters the design:
Illness, loss, isolation trigger the disruption,
The pattern shifts. Yet You remain,
Sending Your light through the stones.

Help us to adjust to these changes,
To sense our continuing essence;
Help us find new radiance, Your glory,
Align us again in holiness.
