204 - During the Conflict

I can hardly stand to listen to the news these days. It seems that each morning as the radio comes on, the report is from Jerusalem. More shootings, more injuries and deaths. I feel like my head is constantly shaking, “no!” This morning, a car bombing in the Mehane Yehuda market. When will it end?

Two Hundred Four

During the Conflict

Comfort Your Land, Holy One,
Comfort the many hearts weeping;
Terror and death bring terror and death,
No soul unaffected.

Comfort Your people,
Torn by continued strife,
Frightened in the marketplace,
Uneasy in their homes.

Set aside the ancient conflict,
Centuries of yearning turned to hatred;
Grasping minds refute reality,
Smash the dreams of home.

Return these shattered lives to You,
Move them in hope;
Bring a lasting peace,
Each content beneath his vine.
