203 - Yom Kippur
The rustling quiets in the sanctuary and there is a moment of anticipation before the voices rise together. Do we pause to read the spaces in the makzor as well as the words, to sigh as well as to sing? All our longing in this season leans to our hopes for wholeness, for closeness to people and to God. May we all be sealed for another year of strength.
Two Hundred Three
Yom Kippur
We stand before the closing Gate,
Eyes shaded before Your glory,
And we whisper our prayer
For guidance and preservation.
We stand alone and in company;
We stand, yearning for wholeness
As we unravel the past year,
Seeking renewal.
You know our weakness and our strength;
You ask for unburdening,
As we offer up expectations
Like fresh, clear water.
Remember us before the closing Gate,
Remember us for Life,
Gathering us in grateful anticipation
Of another year of strength.
